Teen Mom 2's Leah Messer Reveals Her Daughter Aliannah Has Muscular Dystrophy Complete Story

'We'll do everything we can': Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer reveals her daughter Aliannah has muscular dystrophy... and will be confined to a wheelchair
Leah Messer has been living with her four-year-old daughter's developmental delays since she was born. The Teen Mom 2 star recently learned the heartbreaking reason is that Aliannah suffers from a rare and incurable form of muscular dystrophy and will likely be forced to use a wheelchair.

Leah, 21, opened up about her child's illness for the first time since she was given the tragic diagnosis in an interview with In Touch.

We never gave up, and we never will. We’ll do everything we can to make sure Ali has the life that she needs,' Leah told the magazine.
'We were scared because we didn’t know what her future was going to look like, but we always pushed for answers.'
The story behind the devastating diagnosis will all unfold on the season five of Teen Mom 2, which premieres on Tuesday.

Leah revealed that her little girl Ali is facing a life full of challenges as the disease progresses and worsens.
'The disorder affects her respiratory system and progresses the older she gets,' Leah told In Touch.
'The bigger she gets and the more weight she gains, the harder it’ll be for her muscles to carry the weight.'
Ali is still able to walk now but eventually she will be confined to a wheelchair, Leah concedes.

To make her life as easy as possible, Leah and her second husband Jeremy Calvert - whom she wed in April of 2012 - plan on moving into a new house with wheelchair access.
A preview for the new season saw Jeremy and Leah having an argument during which the 24-year-old pipeline engineer threatened to divorce her.
Leah laughs off talk of a split, telling In Touch:  'This is his first marriage. He's still learning you can’t throw that word around. We both know we’d never get a divorce. Both of us are too happy.'
When asked about the preview's divorce talk by Wetpaint Entertainment, Leah further explained: 'When that came on in the trailer I laughed, we laughed, because we're like, "Really?! We're not divorcing."'

Jeremy and I were talking about each other, but it wasn't real. He really said that, but he says that all the time. And I thought it was serious this time.'
Viewers have followed Leah's trials and tribulations since the MTV reality show debuted in 2011.
Leah was pregnant at the time and a high school senior, and soon she gave birth to twins Aliannah and Aleeah.
Her marriage to the girls' father, Corey Simms, did not fare so well and the young couple filed for divorce just six months after getting married.
But Ali's diagnosis has only served to strengthen her bond with her ex, Corey.
'Ali’s condition has brought us all extremely close together,' Leah told In Touch. 'We have to stay strong for Ali, and things are going good.'
