9 Skin Care Mistakes You Don't Want to Make

Skin Care regimens can quickly get complicated and confusing when using multiple products. Be sure you are not making one of these five common mistakes that can make you look old before your time.

1.) Forgetting about Your Neck

Most people think of the face when you mention anti-aging products, but neglecting your neck is a
sure-fire way to show your age before you're ready. The fragile skin on your neck and décolletage has different needs from the skin of your face, and if not protected and nourished appropriately can lose hydration and look flabby. Try Revision Nectifirm to cater to the neck's specific needs with 8 active ingredients working together to strengthen the dermal-epidermal junction.

2.) Not Eating Correctly

In addition to topical creams and serums, the optimum anti-aging skin care regimen includes nourishing the skin from within. Many dermatologists recommend a diet high in Vitmims A, E, and C as well as Fish Oils and other antioxidants. Unfortunately most of us do not eat exactly right 100% of the time. Try Nioxin Intensive Therapy Recharging Complex for a daily multi-vitamin supplement that provides super balanced internal nutrition if your diet isn't perfect.

3.) Skimping on the Sunscreen

You've heard it many times before: no single product can do more to prevent the signs of aging than sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. The truth is most of us do not apply enough as often as we should. Experts recommend applying about 1 ounce of sunscreen —enough to fill a shot glass— 15 to 30 minutes before heading out. Reapply sunscreen  every 2 hours and after sweating or swimming. An ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure when it comes  to sunscreens. If you are outside even briefly use a broad-spectrum, moisturizing sunscreen like SkinCeuticals Ultimate UV Defense SPF 30.

4.) Ignoring Your Hands

Next to your face, your hands are probably the most visible parts of your body and will show the earliest signs of aging. They're always in contact with the elements, household chemicals and extreme temperatures causing sun damage, dryness, chapped skin and age spots. Despite this our hands are often left off the list when it comes to anti-aging skin care needs. To soften and protect your hands try use a well balanced  moisturizer like Rose Hand Cream by Trilogy. To repair moderate to severe signs of damage try Sun Damage Repair with Niacin by NIA24.

5.) Skipping the Roller

It doesn't matter how many topical preparations you slather on your skin, if you aren't using a micro-needle roller you aren't maximizing your skin care dollar or the effects of your favorite products. Skin Roller therapy is performed with a small wheel that gently rolls over the face and painlessly penetrates the skin's upper surface twice a week. The treatment is simple but incredibly effective: research has shown an increase in the absorption of active ingredients up to 1000%. Roller therapy also stimulates collagen production which improves the appearance of

6.)Washing Infrequently

Dr. Jeannette Graf, M.D. says most people don't wash their face enough. "You should wash your face twice a day. Once in the morning when you wake up to remove the dirt and bacteria that gathers on your face while you're sleeping, then again at night to take off makeup and the grime collected throughout the day."

7.)Wash Those Hands

Here's one that you may not consider, but it really makes a lot of sense. It's simple: Dirty hands mean that you're trying to cleanse your skin with, well, dirty hands. Wash your hands first, then wash your face.

8.)Rinse Thoroughly

Dr. Graf encourages you to cleanse your face completely, "Make sure you rinse any cleanser off completely. Residue can lead to dryness."

9.)Don't Forget To Moisturize

I'm sure that I don't have to stress the importance of applying a daily moisturizer after each wash. It's important that you don't use just any old moisturizer either. I recommend a light natural oil like avocado oil, or a facial oil like Josie Maran Argan Oil (pictured above). Tinted Moisturizers or Alphabet Creams are also a great option. fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars. Try the
